From Father to Father – When parents are also the teachers

From Father to Father – When parents are also the teachers

Interview with travel photographer 'The Walton Adventure'. Written by Melanie Gath.

For quite some time now, our Owl has been following this special family – and just as long, they’ve been following us. The Waltons live in Utah (USA), surrounded by a life full of adventure, a deep connection to nature, and conscious choices toward a free and self-determined way of living.

Last year, this family of six traveled to Switzerland for the very first time and paid us a long-awaited visit. You can read more about that beautiful encounter – and all the things they experienced on their journey – in the blogpost.

During their visit, a special moment of exchange emerged: namuk founder Franz met with Mike Walton, a father of four and a full-time travel photographer. In a unique setting with a stunning mountain view, the two sat down for a heartfelt conversation – just the two of them, from father to father.

As part of his interview series "From Father to Father", Franz wanted to know from Mike how he would describe himself as a father, what roles he takes on in everyday family life – in a family that lives for adventure and follows its own unique path. The two talked about homeschooling, the core values that guide them, and why nature plays such a central role in their lives – and how they keep finding their way back to it together. It’s a conversation that touches, inspires, and simply feels good. Here you can watch the full interview:
